We write to be read. Sounds obvious, no? But you might be surprised how many brilliant researchers and scholars assume that no one will read their work. I strive to make history intriguing and accessible, whether it is through my own writing or the editorial guidance I provide to my clients.

I entered academia as an artist, and my creative sensibility seems to follow me through all of my pursuits. When I began studying Visual Culture and Art history and theory at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, I found that I had a knack for helping artists put their visions into words. Whether you are writing a book, putting together an exhibition, or just beginning your journey by applying to residencies or graduate programs, I can help you bring your project to fruition.

What began as word-of-mouth editing services for friends and friends of friends became an integral part of my scholarly life. I have 10+ years of experience of copywriting and editing for the websites, newsletters, print magazines, and social media of organizations including Parsons the New School for Design, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the University of Texas at Austin. I have also taught writing to artists, engineers, and those for whom English is not their first language at both the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Texas at Austin.

My editing services include concept development, structural editing, copyediting, and proofreading. I also write short-form articles by commission. As a creative consultant, I provide aesthetic, historically-accurate guidance on 20th-century American design for films, television, museum displays, photography, and historic preservation. My base rate is $35/hour for editing. For web and print articles, my pricing starts at $250 and varies based on the research involved and word count.
